Three steps
1. Create a desk key
Open Settings → API keys and create a key. It reads and writes only that desk.
2. Install the extension
The same extension installs in VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and VSCodium. Then run Scribble Flow: Set desk key and paste the key.
3. Add the agent
In Cursor, add this to mcp.json. Claude Code and Devin use the same server and the same key.
{ "mcpServers": { "scribble-flow": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "@screentrace/scribble-flow-mcp"], "env": { "SCRIBBLE_API_KEY": "sfk_…", "SCRIBBLE_API_URL": "https://scribbleflow.app", "SCRIBBLE_SOURCE": "cursor" } } } }
One afternoon in onboarding.tsx
Priya selects Users quit while creating a workspace. Auto-create one and let them rename later. and runs Scribble Flow: Save. She picks Decision and writes the why: they quit during workspace creation, before they saw the product. Or she asks the agent to search the desk and keep that decision. The card shows the file and the branch.
The walkthrough is in From the editor.
Quick answers
- Does Scribble Flow work in VS Code and Cursor?
- Yes. One desk key works in both. The same extension also installs in Windsurf and VSCodium.
- When does the agent save?
- Only when you ask. It can search the desk first, then save a decision or append the why to one that already exists.
- Does the editor rewrite what I wrote?
- The original text stays yours. A title beside it is a suggestion: Accept, Edit, or Dismiss.
