Your desk in two minutes
Scribble Flow has a handful of rooms in the sidebar. That can look like a lot. It isn't - most days you'll live in two or three. Here's the whole map, in human words.
We'll follow Alex, who's building a small billing tool for freelancers.
| Room | What it's really for | Alex's example |
|---|---|---|
| Desk | Home. Today's picture at a glance. | Morning coffee - what's worth doing today? |
| Inbox | Everything you captured, raw and untouched. Start Flow when you're ready to sort. | Last night's voice note is still sitting here. |
| Ideas | Opportunities, not to-dos. Things that are still fuzzy. | "Per-invoice pricing" lives here while it's just a maybe. |
| Work | Only the things worth doing next. | "Add Stripe checkout" is a task. |
| Projects | A folder for one initiative. | Everything about "Billing v1" in one place. |
| Slate | Draw it out when words aren't enough. | Sketch the pricing page layout. |
| Memory | Why you decided what you decided. | "We picked monthly billing because…" |
| Ship | What went out, and what happened after. | v0.3 shipped - two users upgraded. |
| Atlas | The map of how it all connects, over weeks. | Which idea is the hub? What did I capture and never link? |
| Company | Private desks plus published why - never a wiki. | Maya's decision, visible to the team only after she publishes it. |
The one rule that makes it click
If you remember nothing else, remember this:
Inbox is the attic. Work is the desk surface. Memory is the diary.
- The attic (Inbox) holds everything, in the order it arrived. You visit it to sort - Start Flow - not to live there.
- The desk surface (Work) holds only what you're acting on now. Keep it small.
- The diary (Memory) is where you write down why - so future-you isn't confused.
Ideas, Projects, Slate, Ship, and Atlas are the rooms you grow into. You don't need them on day one. Atlas in particular waits until you have a pile - it's on Basic and Pro.
Finding your way around
- On desktop, daily rooms sit at the top of the left sidebar. Slate, Ship, Atlas, and Company live under More; your projects are listed below.
- On mobile, the bottom bar has Desk, Inbox, Work, Memory, and More, plus a big + in the middle for capturing. Ideas, Projects, Slate, Ship, Atlas, Company, Settings, and Help live under More. Your avatar in the header opens theme, settings, and sign out.
- Anywhere, press
Cmd/Ctrl+Pto jump to any room or search everything.
Next up: the thing you'll do most - Just capture.
